Okay, I'll admit, I actually smiled some here. It was nice. Kubo really seemed to rush the art in this one, so I'm guessing that he's just as eager to change places as we are. No one wants to watch Yammy.

Zaraki and Byakuya continue with their parade of awesome...and Byakuya makes a statement that really made me pause, and was basically the biggest thing I got out of this issue.

"There's no one among the captains of the Gotei 13 who you could be a help to."

And I was just like, "...what?"

Because, essentially, Byakuya just said, "You're strong, but the captains of Soul Society are still all stronger than you. Even if I'm a captain, and I lost to you."

I dunno if I buy that completely, but the point is that he gave valid reason for the captains being able to take down Espada stronger than Ulquiorra.

Now, this STILL does not excuse the whole "Vasto Lorde are stronger than captains" thing OR how the entire situation was handled, ESPECIALLY not the part where the Primera Espada was killed by a shikai, but it's hard to argue when Yammy is getting his legs chopped off by a one-handed, eyepatched Zaraki. I guess Nnoitra DID have the toughest Hierro. Yammy's not even a Vasto.

The overall air of Unohana's appearance was...something along the lines of, "You children have fun playing with the monster, now, but make sure that you clean up the mess behind you." She didn't even care about Yammy. And we know that she's not nearly as arrogant as Zaraki or Byakuya, or even Ichigo. So, we can be pretty sure that this battle is going to be all wrapped up.

Now, how throwing HER back to Karakura Town is going to help matters, I don't know. They've already got too many eligible battle bachelors there and not enough opponents to fight them. She's only going to make matters worse, especially because she's tough enough to take down any one of the three by herself. Even Mister Broken.

Mayuri continues to be very secretive with what he found in the lair of Szayelaporro, with a disturbingly convenient plot hole back home. But, he's Mayuri. He can do that. And as long as Urahara doesn't barge in and save the day, I'm happy. Any misfortune or put-down of that man is received by me with much joy.

Though, there was something about the art in this issue. I know I said it looked rushed, but it also looked...OLD. Like, it reminded me so much of the glory days of Bleach.

It seems almost like he's going to go back and fight Aizen one-on-one right now, doesn't it? They're all going to get their butts kicked. Again. If only the Espada could have helped in the butt-kicking. But no, he wasted them...which defies all logic.

We're having a severe villain shortage in this series. A shonen series of this sort requires a wide array of villains. Every villain gets to fight at least one main character, and the upper-level ones have to kill/have some dramatic effect on the character. Grimmjow, for example, didn't kill any main characters, but he did kick Ichigo around several times and drive the guy to become stronger. Ulquiorra did basically the same thing. The rest of the Espada didn't have that effect, though...and now we're left with three (or four...WW is out there...) significant villains, and about a dozen heroes who have yet to do anything significant. But of the three main villains, one already has his foes laid out (Tousen with fox-man and 69), one has some backstory and interaction required (Gin and Matsumoto), and one is really only beatable by Ichigo himself (Aizen). Wonderweiss is left to be destroyed by any number of characters. Unohana, Yamamoto, Shinji, Kensei, Urahara, Yoruichi, Isshin, Ryuken, Chojiro, Love, Rose, Hikifune, Ukitake, Shunsui....the list really goes on.

It's fascinating how he's written himself into a corner with this piece.

In further news, I tried to find a sword again, and once again failed. While coming all kinds of close. But, now I have to get ready for class. And we're out of toilet paper.

Sorta defied your expectations, eh?

I would like to point out that Ichigo didn't just defeat Byakuya, he beat Kenpachi as well. And the same pair burst into Orihime's room, once. Mayuri doesn't seem one bit afraid of Unohana. How odd.

"But Unohana, we've already seen what Kenpachi and Byakuya can do!"
"That's why I'm leaving Isane behind."

That's the logical reason why Yammy will be defeated. If logical means anything.

Or maybe there's still hope. Maybe Grimmjow, Nel, and Rocky will team up and save the day. And maybe when Ichigo gets back, Starrk and Halibel will have forgivably inexplicable resurrections. One can only hope...

Or maybe the Garganta will fail, and they'll end up at Shiba estate forever. Where Starrk, Lilynette, Halibel & company, Nel, Grimmjow, Nanao, Tatsuki, Yammy's puppy, fairness, Kiyone, and the other cool characters are staying. Any there will be much rejoicing.

Nice to get the occasional reminder that a 2000 year old military organization can do without the help of a hormonal teenager.

This chapter was rather entertaining, yeah. It's too bad Captain Mom didn't get to take Yammy out in one strike and prevent this fight from dragging on any longer, but I suppose Kubo wants her healing abilities in Karakura...And, of course, Kenpachi being himself is always welcome.

STILL no luck with the sword? Jeez! I didn't think a saber would be so hard to find. Maybe try getting that one you said you had at home?

:iconsilvergem:
Yeah, I've been very dissapointed with Kubo lately. At one point, he had everything set up for some perfect scenes and then... he just lost it. I mean, I wanted to see the villains have some redemption, but... it's not happening. I'll be watching in case he makes a comeback, but right now I'm very dissapointed.

Yes. This was very disappointing. And Unohana DOES look like the "Mother Mae-Eye" type. :)

I found the swords, but unfortunately, I forgot to give them to Mom this morning before I went to school, hence why you don't have them. I found 3 of them. 2 have scabbards, and they are cheap, bendy plastic. :) Hopefully I can get them down to you on Saturday, but I'll see.

No luck getting that one. Sighhhhhhh....

I actually found a pink one that would have been fine if I spraypainted it. It was a pink, sparkly tube with a mechanical-looking handle...it would have been wonderful. But...it would have required spraypaint. SIGH. And it just wasn't worth it.

I found a Turkish blade. It was actually really close. But it wasn't worth buying. And it's also a brand that I know from experience is very flimsy.

And now I know that I don't have any more time, because a project that I thought was due December 1st is actually due NOVEMBER 1st. Or before then. Basically, I have to do it tomorrow. Because it requires using school lab computers. So, yeah. This is a mega disaster.

But I'll settle with the swords I have. I need to attach the mustache properly.

Oh, I saw a bit of juicy gossip at Barnes and Noble today. Apparently, there seems to be some debate as to whether or not Bella will choose werewolf or vampire. HMMMMMMMMMMMMMM....

...

...

...who "wonders" that anymore? How...how is that still relevant?

You know I'm nuts when I start bringing up Twilight. That's the part where I've just snapped.

And I don't suppose you have a Boardwalk from McDonald's...because I have three Park Places. Despite all odds, I have three Park Places...which should be the LEAST common one, because it's a fact that Park Place is the least-commonly-hit square on the board. Seven away from "Go to Jail."

...I'm cracked.

It amazes me how someone can create such a fantastic storyline and destroy it so easily. I mean, I've found another good manga called Fairy Tail, but it's still no Bleach(back when it was good, I mean).

Aye, it's become another Naruto.

And what were you planning on DOING with these swords, pray tell, beyond carrying them around? (Best not to give you any weapons once you start talking Twilight, of course.)

Get some rest and hit that project hard tomorrow. What is it about?
