E: Exceeds Expectations

Wed Jul 15, 2009, 8:40 PM
Saw Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

It...it was awesome.

They only dropped the ball at about five points. Compared to the other movies...that's very, very few.

It didn't feel too rushed (except at the end), but it didn't drag out, either. A bit of a heavy focus on the romance, but it balanced nicely with the drama. Alan Rickman was awesome. So was ol' Sluggy.

Best of all?

Danny and Emma actually ACTED in this one. Like, WELL.

Bonnie was great, too. She really came off well, considering the heightened role she had.

Rupert Grint was fantastic, as usual. And, as usual, he was denied a number of good parts. But he got some, too--this time, he actually got to put in some exposition, rather than letting Hermione do it for him. And his Romilda-Vane-ness was WIN.

The Felix scene was also win. Harry's "Hi!" was the most hilarious delivery out of that boy's mouth...ever.

Oh, and there were so many innuendos throughout the film, it was...heh...

And Dumbledore was freaking Dumbledore. With FIRE.

And DRACO MALFOY. YES. Tom Felton stole the show, in my opinion.

The anti-climactic battle was a letdown...but the halftime show was good. I actually enjoyed it.

I had issues here and there, but overall, a solid eight-out-of-ten. Maybe even nine. I REALLY enjoyed it.

H. Slughorn...more than meets the eye...H. Slughorn...wizard in disguise!

Oh, the theater was PACKED, by the way.

This is a quickie, though...I have more volunteer work tomorrow morning....and I'm sleep-deprived already....

Siiiiir?
XD

*also loved the movie*
:iconamjam:
Yeah, the innuendos were sort of surprising and sort of not. xD My friend remarked to me as we were leaving the theater an hour ago, "Is it just me, or did Ginny spend a lot of time near Harry's pants?"

Draco seems more attractive in this movie. I'm not entirely sure why.

And Harry on Felix was amazing xD "Siiir?" and "Or it's the pincers *click click*"

Harry on Felix was the funniest thing in the movie, minus Ron on the love potion, and that scene with lavender doing the heated glass heart on the train. XD

The theater I saw it in was packed too! And I get to go see it again on Friday! WOO!!!!! :D

This is the first good reveiw I've heard about it. My friend wont stop bitching about it because it's not an exact replica of the book. But your reveiw makes me excited to see it tomorrow.

I pretty much went "aaaawww" during the premiere interview with JKR... She was saying she was so certain no one would bother Harry Potter anymore because its been years after her last book. And hearing her she feels touched by the fans' enthusiasm still is well... pretty awesome.

Am gonna watch this film this pm. Cannot wait.

I agreeee... with YOU... on SOMETHING o.@ Call in the feds... something must be up :XD:

I really didn't like that they switched out the battle at the END for the random destruction of the Weasley home in the middle =\ I mean... they left out SO much with that end battle and yeah it left it anticlimactic. At the end people actually looked around and said "what?" when it was over.

The stuff they DID leave out of this one dug at more more than the stuff they left out of any of the other movies... but what WAS in it was so fabulous, I forgive it ^^

Ohhh the Felix Felicious scene was awesome XD~~~ And the love potion. So much win...

haha I loved it too :D Very few bits I didn't like, veeery few.
I loved Felix Harry, what a cracker.

I saw the movie in a 'gold class' cinema which I've never been too before and still not sure why we had that idea ... but there were only about 20 seats in the theatre and they were all reclining arm chairs that were soooo comfy; so it wasn't packed, and was great to watch Harry in :D hehe

Oh, goodness. I just came back from seeing it, actually. :XD: Harry on Felix was just about the funniest things ever, (Ron's love potion moment coming in a close second.) The "Hi" just had me cracking up so much. I was surprised at how much I laughed at it. (The "Siiiir", and "Pincers", too.)
I agree - I was totally blown away by their acting - everyone did such an amazing job, and Dan and Emma made the characters of Harry and Hermione so much more believable.
