The rain was pure, untainted by the ground she stood on, free from the filth that surrounded her. She let it wash over her, as though hoping it could somehow cleanse her of the nation she was born to serve.



No, I'm not in an emo mood, I just felt like drawing something....Mai-ish. I wound up drawing little Mai while recording the church service today, with rain pouring around her, and so I scanned it in, cleaned it up, worked with the new lineart system, and in a matter of about four hours had a finished product. I also experimented with some other devices--working with dripping water, rain lines, and profiles. Actually, considering the fact that I drew this without reference, I'd say it turned out pretty darn good!

I have no idea when this is supposed to be...I think the situation I'm envisioning is after Zuko's banishment, but she looks a little too young. Maybe it's just some random time; maybe after Ursa disappeared.

With the exception of all of the blurring, which was done in IrfanView, and the original sketch, which was hand-drawn, this is MS Paint. I used a screencap from the DVDs for color reference, too.
